Twelve loaders — ring, dots, bars, pulse, orbit, typing, line and more — from one API.

Installation#

One command copies the source into your app — you own the code and can change anything.

Usage#

Colours, radius and light / dark come from useKit(). Wrap your app in <KitProvider accent="#6366f1" radius={14}> to re-skin every component at once.

Props#

PropTypeDefault
variant

Indicator style — 12 loaders. "line" is an indeterminate bar size × 4 wide (override with style.width).

"ring" | "dots" | "bars" | "pulse" | "orbit" | "bounce" | "wave" | "grid" | "typing" | "arc" | "square" | "line""ring"
size

16 / 24 / 36 / 52pt, or any number. Every variant scales from it.

"sm" | "md" | "lg" | "xl" | number"md"
color

Indicator colour.

stringtheme accent
speed

Speed multiplier.

number1
label

Accessibility label; shown on screen when labelPosition is set.

string"Loading"
labelPosition

Show the label beside or under the spinner, with an animated ellipsis.

"none" | "right" | "bottom""none"
track

Faint guide behind the motion: full circle (ring, orbit, arc), rail (line) or ghost bars (bars).

booleanfalse
style

Style for the root view (the square, or the spinner + label row/column).

StyleProp<ViewStyle>—

Behaviour & accessibility#

Motion
Every variant loops on the native driver (rotation, scale, translate, opacity); the ring's arc-length breathing is the only SVG prop animation and runs on its own JS-driven node.
Reduced motion
Loops stop and each loader holds a still, clearly-busy frame (staggered dots, a lit diagonal, a mid-line segment); the ring keeps a plain steady spin.
Screen readers
Announced as a progress bar with state busy and your label (default "Loading"); the visual is one accessible element.
Platforms
Pure React Native Animated plus react-native-svg — iOS, Android, Expo Go and web, no native setup.

Manual installation
  1. Install dependencies

    terminal
    npx expo install react-native-svg
  2. Copy the files

Create each file at the same path and paste its code. @/ points at your src/ folder (the default in new Expo apps). Skip any file you already have, like lib/kit.tsx.

    • src/components/ui/spinner.tsx749 lines
    • src/lib/kit.tsx220 lines

Want to read it first? Every file is in Source below.

  3. Use it

    App.tsx
    import { Spinner } from "@/components/ui/spinner";

See Usage for a full example.

Example.tsx
import { Spinner } from '@/components/ui/spinner'; export function Saving() {  return <Spinner variant="bars" size="lg" label="Saving changes" labelPosition="right" />;}

Every variant above has a complete, runnable example in its Code tab.
